Port City Pottery and Fine Crafts
We are happy to welcome Sandy Brown to our Gallery and introduce
him as our featured artist for this month. Long time resident of
Wilmington, A. C. "Sandy" Brown, brings a unique presence to our
Gallery. Working in construction and engineering for thirty
years, he has had the opportunity to hone his woodworking
skills. He has worked on the restoration of many boats in the
area, most notably the Battleship North Carolina. Sandy was the
project manager for the teak deck replacement for the Battleship
which is berthed on the Cape Fear River in Downtown Wilmington.
Sandy utilizes new and recycled woods from clearings, to scarp
and salvage. He produces a variety of items from detailed
cabinetry and furniture to simple boxes. Teak has been his wood
of choice, with much of his work coming from the recycled teak
of the original Battleship deck. Come see and enjoy Sandy's
unique work and see how recycled wood can become art! Also stop
by and register for a gift certificate and see the work of the
many other artists in our Gallery!
